As Phil Rizzuto used to say: HOLY COW!!! Spring is gone. That was the
whackiest spring weather I've ever encountered--weeks of summer heat in
March followed by endless nights of frost, plants went to flower and
seed long before they should have, slugs have been legion, I still don't
have all my tomatoes in the ground...there's always something to
complain about, but each morning offers a new shot at redemption.
For the final week of the spring share:
2.25 lbs of March Farm tomatoes!!!!
1
head of Bibb or Buttercrunch lettuce (these are crisper than leaf
lettuce, but not as crisp as Romaine, which should be ready in a week or
2) and 1 head of Black Seeded Simpson.
Choose 3 of the following:
Salad mix with magenta spreen
Gator swiss chard
Mizuna (here are some great Mizuna
recipes: http://www.misshomemade.com/mizunarecipe.html
Spinach--not much left of the best spinach crop ever (more on the way)
Arugula--(might be it until fall)
Rhubarb
Substitute as you wish, except for milk and cheese.
We
have mixed herb goat cheese and Cayuga blue cheese from the wonderful
Lively Farm in upstate NY in the farm stand. Hopefully we'll have more
Appleridge chickens tomorrow.
Thanks so much for supporting us--we couldn't do this without you!
